Since the appointing of former Red Devil Ole Gunnar Solskjaer United have been a revelation. In recent years United have been struggling and haven’t been able to get back on track despite going through three recognised managers in Louis Van Gaal, David Moyes and most recently Jose Mourinho.
Under new management the team has made a drastic change and appear to be the Manchester United we once knew and expect them to be. United have been throwing money around on players thinking it would help change their fortunes, but instead it’s just cost them a fortune with no success.
Reasons Why They Can
United have been in terrific form ever since Solskjaer has taken over at the helm. Under the Norwegian manager United have the best record in the Premier League, they are the only team not to lose a game since his appointment and would be top of the log with their current win streak. The Red Devils have only dropped points against Liverpool and Burnley earning draws and winning every other game.
The atmosphere at Old Trafford has changed, fans believe in the team again and showing immense support. Since Solskjaer has taken over United have scored 37 goals and of that players who have come through the academy have scored more than half of that. Clearly shows that Solskjaer firmly believes in his youth players at the club and is not afraid to give them a chance.
On Saturday United played Southampton and what a game it was. United went behind early on but fought back to win the game 3-2. This has got the entire team as well as the fans feeling as if it’s just like the old days after Lukaku scored a late winner. This victory also meant that United moved above Arsenal into fourth place after they drew with Tottenham 1-1. United are now one point clear of Arsenal and just three points off Spurs so the possibility is even there for them to make Top 3.
Players Returning To Form
Paul Pogba is a prime example of the change at Manchester United. When Mourinho was at Old Trafford he struggled for form and was judged harshly for not being consistent. But it’s been new management and a new Pogba or rather the old Pogba that we were dazzled by when he was at Juventus. At the moment he is proving just why United broke the bank to bring him back to Old Trafford. He is running the show and is currently United’s top goal scorer. It’s no secret that he is the key to United’s success of late. But let’s not forget who’s been right next to him with some brilliant performances.
Marcus Rashford has been in sensational form and has been scoring for fun. A player who’s playing beyond his age has been been tremendous. Romelu Lukaku is another player that’s received a lot of stick since his move to Old Trafford but in the last two games he has also proven why he should be United’s number one striker. He has scored 4 goals in his last two games and is stepping up for an injury burdened team.
There should be no doubt that United can make top four with the form that they are currently in. The players are happy under new management and are showing that in their performances. They are just behind third place so the possibility of them making top three would be possible.
