When it comes to Formula 1 drivers and cars, most people often think about those that they see them driving over the course of the season on the track.
However, most of the Formula 1 drivers that fans do see racing in the various Grand Prix’s have a passion for cars in general, with many owning a fleet of motors that often feature classics, sports and even super cars. So which Formula 1 drivers not only have cool cars on the track, but away from it too?
Hamilton is the current reigning Formula 1 champion and many people look to him as one of the coolest sports stars around. He’s spoken at length about his love affair with cars in general and it comes as no surprise that the Brit owns a feel which has a mixture of classic, exotic and sports vehicles. When it comes to classic motors Hamilton has the 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra and then 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to call on. He also has a custom built Pagoni Zonda 760LH, Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series, a McLaren P1 and a Ferrari LaFerrari in his fleet too. Hamilton is also well known for having an array of motorbikes too.
Sebastien Vettel finished runner up to Lewis Hamilton in the Formula 1 Drivers Championship last season and he, like Hamilton, has an obsession with great cars away from the track too. The four time world champion is said to own a Mercedes SC65 AMG Black Series, Fiat 500 Abarth, Infiniti FX 50S, BMW 320d and a Volkswagen T5 van. It’s a collection that exudes class just as you’d expect for a man who has been at the top of his game in Formula 1 for many years now. Fernando Alonso is one of the classiest drivers to ever compete in Formula 1. The Spaniard won the world championship in 2005 and the following year in 2006 and is one of the stand out drivers in the sport still to this day. He himself owns some beautiful vehicles away from the track and they’re nearly as classy as the man himself. You’ll find a Maserati Gran Cabrio, Maserati Quattroporte and a Ferrari 458 Italia in his garage amongst others; but these three reflect Alonso perfectly and show off his love for the more exotic of vehicles.
Iceman Kimi Raikkonen seems to have been around in Formula 1 forever and the 38 year old currently finds himself driving for Ferrari. He won the drivers’ championship back in 2007 but has always been known as a strong competitor within the sport. He managed to finish 4th last season and while he’s one of the best on the track, he also possesses a car collection that’s up with the best away from it too. Amongst his collection there’s the Ferrari Enzo, as you’d expect from a Ferrari driver. There’s also a Fiat Abarth and Raikonnen also possesses a Chopper motorbike too.
