Horse Racing – 14:45 Chepstow (Tuesday 19th September)

Chepstow racing is back underway this Tuesday, and the 14:45 is the third race of the day – although, as you’ll see below, it’s one of the most exciting (by far), thanks to some of the long-shot odds which – could, if conditions suite – treat some of the outsiders to a win.

One of our favourite ‘long shot’ picks would arguably be P D Evans’ Brockey Rise, which, ridden by Katherine Glenister, stands a fantastic chance of claiming a top-three finish, provided she can ride the horse fast, from the get-go.

Horse Racing - 14:45 Chepstow

While the horse’s form is far from ideal, it claimed a first-place victory 4 races back, and while the handicap doesn’t help him in the slightest, the jockey’s 7lb claim should be fairly advantageous, and if Gleinister can get him out the stalls off the market, this could be one to look at, each-way, as the odds are currently hovering around 15/2.

It’s hard to ignore Diamond Dougal, however, who – priced at 11/4 – is the clear favourite for the race. Trained by M R Channon (a highly-respected trained within the industry, and a man with multiple high-event wins to his name), we see jockey Dane O’Neill take the reins here, and the horse has looked increasingly impressive over recent races – much of which can probably be attributed to her switch to handicap racing.

She should have plenty of potential off her current mark, and while the odds are prone to drift, we think – at 11/4 – this makes for a fantastic “main bet”, of the day.

Another to keep an eye on, is Bhindi, which, while displaying variable form in her last few races, could be an interesting one to watch, given her three-race-succession of second place finishes. Priced at 5/1, she may be an idea pick for those looking to boost the odds on their Lucky 15’s and Yankee’s, and if jockey Charles Bishop can ride her fast, along the rails, she could be a contender to Diamond Dougal.

Other horses racing, include W G Grace, Princess Lyla, and Motown Mick… although it’s hard to get too excited about any of the other picks, given their fairly less-than-ideal form, and inexperience of the jockey’s riding.

Overall, we like the look of Idamond Dougal, with – perhaps, a small each-way bet on Brockey Rise.
