On Saturday the Premier League will kick off with a bang when Arsenal head across London in an attempt to add more misery to Spurs’ week. Earlier on Spurs had already lost one London Derby against Chelsea, so the question is will they lose another?
Arsenal are in great form after sweeping aside Bournemouth. This is a battle between third and fourth place that is sure to light up the Premier League.
Spurs Struggles & Arsenal Delight
On Wednesday night Chelsea piled on to Spurs misery after beating them. Losing at Stamford Bridge is obviously something that’s not easy to swallow for Spurs fans and they have a lot to be concerned about as their team is not firing at all. Instead of looking to win the league Spurs are now more worried about assuring a top four finish. Arsenal head into the fixture in great form as the team has suddenly began to click again. After beating Bournemouth in a mid week fixture 5-1 they moved within four points of Spurs. They are now breathing down their necks which means Spurs cannot afford any more slipups.
If Spurs lose on Saturday Arsenal will be just one point behind them and they will be in danger of not making the Champions League unless they win it. During the first fixture earlier in the season these two teams produced a fantastic encounter with Arsenal winning 4-2. Form goes out the window when these two teams play, especially since Arsenal have to try and end a run of 21 games when visiting top six opponents. This is how the two teams will supposedly line-ups line-up tomorrow:
Tottenham: Lloris, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Aurier, Winks, Sissoko, Rose, Eriksen, Son, Kane
Arsenal: Leno; Sokratis, Koscielny, Mustafi; Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Torreira, Kolasniac; Mkhitaryan; Aubameyang; Lacazette
Will Ozil Start
As we all know the German playmaker has fallen out of favour with boss Unai Emery. But in recent games Ozil has been showing why he is one of the best midfielders in the world. He has been the focal point in conversations leading up to the game especially after he assisted Mkhitaryan and scored against Bournemouth. Emery had this to say about Ozil: “Each player has skills and Ozil has the confidence to shoot like that. I think it’s amazing that football can have players with these skills and able to different things on the pitch.” Ozil is clearly changing the managers opinion on him and could be a game changer come Saturday.
Kane stats against Arsenal are quite frightening. The striker clearly likes playing against Arsenal as he as six goals in six Premier League games against the Gunners. He has also scored four goals in three home games against them. Kane is simply incredible in the North London Derby. He has scored 21 goals in 32 Premier League London Derbies, averaging 0.66 goals per game and only the great Thierry Henry can has a better goals ratio than Kane.
Saturday’s game is one that cannot and should not be missed as it promises to be an exciting one. Both teams need the win to stay in the top four which makes it all the more interesting.
