Is The Premier League The Best In The World?

The Premier League is often described by many a football fan as the best league in the world.

There’s no doubt that it is an entertaining division that not only has some great teams playing in it but great managers and individual players too. It’s a big statement to declare the Premier League the best in world football though, especially when there are some other great divisions out there.

For a start, La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid always seem to have the knack of tempting players to leave the Premier League for Spain’s top flight. Philippe Coutinho was the latest to make the move, after his move to the Nou Camp from Anfield in January. Luis Suarez made the same move as his former Anfield counterpart, while Cristiano Ronaldo swapped Manchester for Madrid, and became an even better player.

Premier League

You can’t see clubs being able to poach players from either of the Manchester clubs right now but it does seem that players at other clubs in the Premier League would jump at a chance of moving to a Barcelona or Real Madrid. You could say though that Barcelona and Real Madrid could now become clubs who lose their players to the financial power of sides such as PSG after they signed Neymar last summer from the Catalan side.

So, while players may leave the top tier of English football for pastures new, it still is the best league in the world for many. This season we’ve seen Pep Guardiola’s side win the league in style, playing some superb football along the way, and they look set to break a few records before the campaign ends too. Liverpool has also enjoyed a good season domestically, but they have really excelled in the Champions League and look like they have one foot in the final after a 5-2 victory over Roma at Anfield.

You can’t mention Liverpool, without talking about the best player in the league this season, and arguably the world, Mo Salah. Salah has been in stunning form from start to finish, scoring a remarkable 43 goals in 47 games so far. The 25-year-old Egyptian is probably the first player to hit the sort of heights of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for a long time and he could even go on to win the Ballon d’Or.

If Liverpool could go on to win the Champions League this season people would be left with no doubt that the Premier League is indeed the best league in the world. The race for the top four is often very competitive and there are a whole host of great players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Paul Pogba, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and many more. There are also some elite coaches in the top tier of English football too, which include Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp. It’s easy to see why the Premier League is loved so much, by so many people, around the world.
