With the Premier League beginning in just five days teams have been making big moves. Some huge transfers have occurred mainly from the likes of Manchester United, Wolves, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Everton.
Everyone is looking to strengthen their teams with the difficulty of the league continuously getting worse.
United Continue To Rebuild
Harry Maguire is set to become the most expensive defender in the world after Manchester United and Leicester City agreed a few that will rise to £85 million. There has been speculation around the man known as “block head” all summer and now it seems that he is finally on his way to Old Trafford. The fee surpasses Virgil Van Dijk’s of £75 million which was the world record. The 26 year old starred for England at last years World Cup where England reached the semi-finals and he instantly gained the attention of England’s biggest clubs.
Juventus Swap On The Cards
Maguire will supposedly undergo his medical this weekend making him United’s third signing of the summer after they signed Aaron Wan Bissaka and Daniel James. He forms part of a strong defense of Wan Bissaka, Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw. This is unlikely to be United’s last signing with a swap deal between Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala imminent.
Arsenal Sign Lille Star
Arsenal had claimed that they only had a £45 million budget for this transfer window but they just broke that budget with ease. The Gunners have agreed to the signing of Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille for a club record fee of £72 million. The 24 year old has signed a five year contract and will complete his medical on Tuesday.
Bir Money Big Expectations
He becomes the fifth most expensive signing ever in Premier League history after Lukaku, Pogba, Van Dijk and recently Maguire. This has also made in the most expensive African defender in history which is a statement as Arsenal must really believe in his abilities. Arsenal’s new number 19 will team up with Lacazette and Aubameyang to make a deadly attack.
Newcastle Record Signings
Newcastle United have made the massive signing of Nice winger Allan Sant-Maximin for a reasonable fee of £16.5 million which could rise to £20 million in add ons. The 22 year old is a versatile player that is able to play on either wing or even in the centre if needed. He signs a 6 year contract at St James Park. He was also joined by Eintracht Frankfurt and Dutch international left back Jetro Williams. The pair join Joelinton who also signed for the club in July for a club record fee of £40 million.
Everton Big Money Moves
Everton have been very busy this summer having made for signings already. The latest addition to their squad has been the signing of Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Mainz for an undisclosed fee. The 23 year old has agreed to a five year contract at Goodison Park and has been tipped to fill the void left by Idrissa Gueye who recently joined PSG.
With all the massive signings of late and the players that some of the big teams possess this might make for the most exciting Premier League season yet.
