One Last Dance For Wade And Nowitzki

Already considered legends of the game by many, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade have been given one last chance to appear in the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has named them in the game as two special editions to commemorate their contributions to the NBA. They are both iconic NBA champions and have been ambassadors to the NBA for many years. They will both take the court for their final appearance in the NBA All-Star game on Sunday the 17th of February at the Spectrum Center.

Final Dance In All-Star Game

During the 2019 NBA All-Star Draft there will be a new third round where a 13th player will be added to each active All-Star roster. The king Lebron James will have a team as well as Giannis Antetokounmpo. They are the two captains and will oversee selections for their teams respectively. The first round will consist of Lebron and Giannis selecting 10 All-Star starters, in the second round they will select 14 reserves and in the third round they will decide between Nowitzki and Wade. Team Lebron will get to make the first pick in the first and third rounds while Team Giannis will have the first pick in the second round.

Wade And Nowitzki - NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte

Nowitzki Final Dance

The German legend is now 40’s years old and is coming off the bench for his beloved Dallas Mavericks, he is currently averaging a career low 4.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Due to his age and playing time he is undecided on whether he will retire but it does seem likely. This means that it more than likely will be his final performance in the All-Star NBA game. This is currently his 21st season in the NBA and Nowitzki has become the first player to play 21 consecutive seasons for the same team. He has also tied the record for the most overall seasons played of 21 as well. Nowitzki has developed the power forward position throughout his career due to his perimeter shooting. Its unexpected for a power forward but he ranks 11th on the all-time three pointers list. During the 2006-07 season he became the first NBA MVP that’s an international player.

Wade Final Dance

Wade is now in his final season having announced at the start of the season that he will be retiring and has returned to the Miami Heat for one last dance. He now plays as a reserve and is currently averaging 13.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Despite his age he is still contributing to the Heat and is still highly valued. Wade is a 12-time NBA All Star and even has a MVP performance in the 2010 edition. Wade is amongst only three people who have recorded 20,000 points, 5000 assists, 4000 rebounds, 1500 steals, 800 blocks and 500 three pointers. Only the legendary Michael Jordan and Lebron James have achieved this.

Wade and Nowitzki have already faced one another twice in NBA Finals with Wade’s Heat winning in 2006 and Nowitzki’s Mavericks winning in 2011. There’s been a lot of love lost between the two, but they are grateful to be sharing this occasion. This might be the best All-Star weekend yet and surely can’t be missed.
