76ers Favourites With Harris?

If you thought the Philadelphia 76ers were strong before well then think again, they are now a force to be reckoned with. Early on Wednesday morning the much-anticipated transfer deadline took another twist when Tobias Harris completed a trade from the LA Clippers to the 76ers.

His move has now made the 76ers the favourites to win through the Eastern Conference finals. The deal never came without risks as Harris contract is only until the end of season meaning the 76ers could lose him to any of their rival, so was the deal worth it?

Phily Starting Five

With the 76ers securing Harris they have built an incredibly strong starting line-up which consists of Ben Simmons, JJ Redick, Jimmy Butler, Joel Embiid and now Tobias Harris. The only team that one could compare to this all-star line-up are the Golden State Warriors which we all know have an over powered team. Harris has boosted the confidence of 76ers fans who are now daring to dream that they could reach the NBA Finals in June. He is the perfect fit for a team who are short of shooters.

Tobias Harris Joins The Philadelphia 76ers

Harris has been averaging 43.4 percent from 3 pointers this season and is shooting just under 50 percent overall. He is a versatile player who won’t have an issue being compatible his new team. The team struggles for depth with their bench not being enough, with a strong starting line-up it means that they could have two or three of their starters on the court at any time when needed.

The Search For A Better Bench

Along with gaining Harris, the 76ers also received center Boban Marjanovic and forward Mike Scott but the question remains whether they will change the 76ers struggles with their bench. In return they traded Wilson Chandler, Landry Shamet and Mike Muscala. The 76ers have also given the Clippers their 2020 first round pick, the Miami Heat’s unprotected 2021 first round pick and two second round picks. This could lead to a ripple effect throughout the league and have some implications.

Eastern Conference Just Got Much Tougher

Should the 76ers be able to hold onto Simmons, Butler, Harris and Embiid for years to come they will be a long-term Eastern Conference threat. Some of the implications that other teams may face like the Clippers since they’ve lost Harris has meant that will continue to slip down the rankings as they keep selling more and more players. The Clippers made this trade in hope for building a brighter future for themselves. They are hoping that bigger stars are going to want to make the move to Los Angeles. Anthony Davis who has had massive speculation surrounding his future has tipped the Clippers as one of the teams he would like to go to which is just what they’ve been waiting for.

The 76ers are making big moves this year in hopes of making the finals and are doing a really good job so far this season. They have created an extremely high possibility of them challenging for the title which is needed with some teams looking extremely strong this season.
